FOR STUDENTS · CULTURE DYNAMICS

Studiolab

Explore how the arts interact with human systems through an independent study shaped by your interests and discipline.

A place to pursue your own question

The Studiolab is a learning opportunity connected to Culture Dynamics. It brings the project’s questions—about artistic activity, human experience, and the systems around them—into student-led inquiry, with supervision from associated faculty.

A study can examine a cultural practice, investigate how people experience an object or place, or explore an idea through design and experimentation. Students develop their own questions and approaches, drawing on the perspectives that inform Culture Dynamics.

How to take part

Start with a question you would like to explore. Contact Culture Dynamics or an associated faculty member to discuss its fit and the possibilities for supervision.

  1. Introduce your interests

Send a short note about your academic background, the question or area you want to explore, and your intended timing. Include a relevant project or portfolio link if useful.

  2. Discuss a direction

Explore the question with a potential supervisor and consider an approach suited to it, such as a literature review, a case study, empirical inquiry, or a design experiment.

  3. Agree on a scope

Discuss supervision, a feasible scope, and an intended outcome before beginning. If you are seeking academic credit, confirm the relevant requirements with your program and supervisor.
